Part of a major series extension that added space saving J-Bend SMT lead options to each of C&K’s proven JS Series slide switches, the new JS207 Series subminiature slide switches provide an economical alternative to on-on-mom toggle & rocker switches, and are ideal for headsets, consumer audio & video systems, smoke & carbon monoxide detectors, thermostats and test & measurement equipment
C&K, a leading global manufacturer of electromechanical switches, has introduced the industry’s first subminiature, vertically actuated on-on-momentary slide switch series. The new JS207 Series slide switches feature a double-pole, triple throw (DP3T) configuration that can be used to replace a two-position slide switch, and a separate momentary push switch for applications that require the on-on-mom function. In addition, the entire line of proven JS Series slide switches — which is comprised of SPDT, DPDT, and DP3T switches in vertical and right angle configurations — are now offered with a J-Bend SMT lead option that significantly reduces their PCB footprint by up to 50%.
Designed for use in applications that requires a reliable multi-function switch with a low profile and limited PC board footprint, the new JS207 Series switches are ideal for use in compact headsets for consumer audio and video equipment, test and measurement equipment, and home automation and alert systems, such as thermostats, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
“Our new JS207 Series switches are the only subminiature, vertically actuated on-on-mom DP3T slide switches available today,” said Paul Di Lorenzo, global product manager, C&K Components. “They provide design engineers with a lower-cost option than conventional rocker or toggle switches, and prove especially beneficial in applications where board space and profile height are at a premium. In fact, in some applications, the JS207 Series switches can even replace two separate switches for even more cost and space savings. We’ve also expanded the J-Bend surface mount lead configuration option to the entire JS Series, providing our customers with even more reduced PCB footprint options designed to help them overcome the space constraint challenges common to contemporary electronic designs.”
The new JS207 Series slide switches feature a double-pole, triple-throw (DP3T) contact arrangement and an on-on-mom function with a positive detent. Contacts are rated for 0.3A at 6VDC, with a minimum electrical life of 5,000 cycles. Insulation resistance at 500VDC is 100MΩ, and contact resistance is 70mΩ (max). Operating temperature for the series spans -40°C to 85°C.
Available in standard tape-and-reel packaging, the JS207 Series switches measure 13mm x 3.6mm x 3.5mm (l x w x h), and are rated for infrared reflow soldering at 260°C.
